My first post was going to be something very trivial, however as things turn out my first post isn't going to be trivial whatsoever. I was reflecting tonight upon our perception of beauty, does one human being perceive someone the same way as another? The answer is obviously no, so how does one develop a perceived view of what beauty is. One persons picture of beauty can be a visual hell to another, so what predetermines our response? I presume we choose what we prefer from a young age, and then later in life it changes and reverts with experience and persuasion from factors such as the media or past relationships and how they have turned out. The media I believe is one of the biggest factors in determining our response to beauty. If we are shown something that is described as 'ugly' or 'vile' are we more or less likely to view the object in such way ourselves. As popular opinion changes so does our perception we are powerless to rebel against the crowd, or so it would seem except if it was such we would all find the same objects beautiful or ugly. Therefore there must be a genetic disposition towards certain preferences or else the world would be full of the same bland people conditioned to be whatever the media dictates. So next time you find yourself regarding something as beautiful consider whether this is a affected view or one that is as beautiful as the object in question.
